In the future Tamás Fellegi will act as minister without portfolio responsible for liaising with certain international financial organisations, and as such he will head the delegation conducting talks with the International Monetary Fund and the Commission of the European Union.
In relation to the discussions, the duties of the minister without portfolio include the development and presentation of a negotiating position to the Government, the coordination of background work to the negotiations, initiatives on the required government decisions and regular report of the Hungarian position to the background institutions of the European Union and IMF, and credit rating organisations. He will also liaise with international financial organisations.
On their 15 December 2011 meeting, the parliamentary Economic and IT, as well as Audit and Budget Committees supported Tamás Fellegi’s appointment with a great majority, and on 16 December 2011 he formally received his appointment from Pál Schmitt, President of the Republic in the Sándor Palace.
