Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the MoD Defence Staff participated in a two-day NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence (MC/CD) Session in Brussels.

The central topic of the discussions was the preparation for the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting in February and the Summit of Heads of State and Government in May. Other items on the agenda include NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan and the role of the Alliance in the region after 2014.

The session evaluated the activity of the NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo (Kosovo Force, KFOR) and explores the scope of cooperation with the countries of the Mediterranean Dialogue in light of the events of the “Arab Spring”. Among others, a further topic for discussion was the ongoing cooperation between NATO and other partner countries (Russia, Sweden, Finland).
