You have demonstrated the professionalism and persistence of the Hungarian Defence Forces– this was how Tamás Vargha, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence welcomed the troops returning from the Afghanistan missions in Szentes on January 9.
The welcome home ceremony for 57 soldiers returning from Afghanistan took place inside the barracks of the HDF 37th ‘Ferenc Rákóczi II’ Engineer Regiment in Szentes, in the afternoon of January 9. “To the greatest joy of all of us, in particular your family members, friends and comrades, we can welcome you back home after the completion of your noble tasks that were not without danger”, Tamás Vargha, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence said. “You have accomplished a mission, which has strength and objective. The word mission comes from Latin, it is an active expression whose meaning includes a creed as well. Besides determination, military discipline and precise work, this mission has the striving for security and stability, the international alliance that was formed with many for peace and predictability. Thank you for this service, for this mission which you have completed!”
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence pointed out that the soldiers performed their duties professionally together with our allies under the most difficult circumstances. They have demonstrated the professionalism and persistence of the Hungarian Defence Forces, representing in a foreign country not only the Hungarian Defence Forces but also the whole of Hungary, all of us.
Maj.-Gen. László Domján, the commander of the HDF Joint Force Command also attended the welcome home ceremony held for the 5th rotation of the HDF National Support Element (NSE), the 5th rotation of the HDF Logistic Mentor Team (LMT) and the soldiers serving in individual positions with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
