Due to their service duties, the soldiers of the HDF Kabul International Airport Force Protection Contingent (HDF) KAIA FPC) celebrated the anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian state (August 20) on August 21.

On August 20 two soldiers of the HDF KAIA FPC were baptized in the community house, where Maj. László N., field chaplain called attention to the following, referring to the First Epistle of Peter: “Let us stop for a moment’s reflection, and if everything seems to be lost, let us ask for help from our own heavenly home, whence real help can only come.”

Sports offer a proper way of recreation in the continuous work of the everyday life, so in the morning of August 21, a five-a-side championship was held with the participation of five teams. Besides the HDF KAIA FPC, members of the HDF National Support Element and the HDF Logistic Mentor Team also entered the competition, which was won by the team comprising the members of the 1st force protection platoon. For the gala dinner held in several turns, the members of the second rotation of the HDF KAIA FPC prepared a stew, which was served for the Hungarian soldiers serving in the area of the camp and in various contingents and individual positions in Kabul.

Before the meals were taken, Col. Zoltán Apáti, the commander of the contingent congratulated those who were decorated with Service Medals. The soldiers of other nations serving together with the contingent at the camp – including Brig.-Gen. Olivier Taprest, the commander of Kabul International Airport – also honored the ceremony with their presence. This time too, the stew, made traditionally in a kettle, was quite popular and earned appreciation from members of other nations as well.
