The Ministry of National Resources is responsible for the functioning of the national healthcare and welfare system in Hungary, the development of school education from nursery to university, the protection of our cultural heritage, promotion of the interests of children and the young, and the realisation of government aims related to sport in Hungary.
Priority areas for the Ministry are ensuring the high-quality functioning of the healthcare system, the development of concepts related to the pensions system, the shaping of school education from nursery to university, the creation of new cultural assets and initiatives, and the protection of national and world cultural heritage assets. The Ministry of National Resources aims to bring about the conditions for enhancing quality of life through the creation of a reliable and efficient system of welfare provision, a healthcare system which takes into account the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals, and the development of effective school education from nursery years to university.
The Ministry of National Resources is led by the Minister of National Resources, Miklós Réthelyi, Dr.
Ministers of state lead the various specialist departments:
The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs is János Halász.
The Minister of State for Health is Miklós Szócska, Dr.
The Minister of State for Welfare, Families and the Young is Miklós Soltész.
The Minister of State for Education is Rózsa Hoffmann, Dr.
The Minister of State for Culture is Géza Szőcs.
The Minister of State for Sport is Attila Czene.
The State Secretary is András Jávor, Dr.
The Ministry of National Resources is also responsible for tasks related to welfare and pensions policy, policy on families, drug prevention and coordination of drugs-related affairs. It is responsible for protection of children and the young, the shaping of policy related to children and the young, and the promotion of equality of opportunity for people suffering from mental impairment. It places emphasis on church affairs and issues related to the protection of cultural heritage. The Ministry oversees preparation of plans built on government policy concepts for amateur and professional sport in Hungary.
In addition to heads of cabinet, government officials working in various specialist areas within the Ministry assist the Minister and Ministers of State in their work, taking part in the preparation of decisions and in implementation tasks. The Ministry’s main organisational units are the Ministerial Cabinet, the Offices of the Ministers of State, the Offices of Deputy Ministers of State, and specialist departments and units.
