The Ministry for National Development signed an agreement with the Leipzig-based European Energy Exchange (EEX) on 28 November, based on which the auction of Hungary’s EUA units in the second trading period of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) may now be launched.
According to the agreement, a total of 2.5 million EUA units will be offered for sale in two phases on the EEX’s spot market. On 10 December 2012 between 1pm and 3pm, 1.25 million EUA units will be put up for auction.
With this agreement, the Ministry aims to sell its second trading periods EUA units.
