Some 170 ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Hungary participated in the traditional grape harvest in the northeast Hungarian village of Demjén on Thursday. Minister of Rural Development Sándor Fazekas and State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Iván Bába welcomed guests at the Egri Korona wine cellars.
Mr Fazekas said that the grape harvest was a good opportunity to introduce international diplomats to one of Hungary's renowned wine regions and the local viniculture.
Hungarian wines have good prospects as demand for quality wine remains unchanged and this year's harvest is especially large and of high quality. Mr Bába said it became a tradition for international diplomats in Hungary to participate in the grape harvest every year.
