Public road sections of almost 3000 km in Hungary undergo accident risk surveys and analyses within the framework of the SENSOR (South East Neighbourhood Safe Routes) project financed by the European Union. Based on the findings of the review carried out with a uniform methodology, the Hungarian expert group is to make proposals on low-budget transport technical interventions. The international initiative aimed at significantly raising the standard of traffic safety along the national public road network was presented at a press conference in Budapest on 9 April 2014.

Modern buses, higher quality services also in the agglomeration

Based on the order made by the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) VOLÁNBUSZ Ltd. is taking over the operation of bus services in community transport in certain lines in the agglomeration, which have an important role in the Budapest traffic. BKK and VOLÁNBUSZ will provide higher quality services to the population of the capital and the 11 agglomeration settlements with MAN and RABA-VOLVO Accessible Low Floor (ALF) buses also equipped with AC systems.

A professional conference entitled Electricity Supply in Hungary in the 21st Century was held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on 18 February, 2014, in the framework of which invited speakers elaborated on their views on the issue. In his lecture, Minister of State for Energy Affairs Pál Kovács recalled a statement made by EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger last May according to which the European Commission acknowledged and respected the decisions of national governments on energy mixes applied in order to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions.

By the agreement signed at the Intersputnik Workshop organised by the Ministry of National Development and the National Media and Infocommunications Authority, Hungary became an active member of the operational decision-making body of the organisation.
