On the proposal of Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Member States made the decision to appoint Prison Service Brigadier General dr. László Huszár as Head of the crisis management mission (EUJUST LEX Iraq) that helps to develop the capabilities of the Iraqi administrative management of law enforcement and judicial systems. The Hungarian Head of the mission will take his duty station in Baghdad soon – joint bulletin of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
It was the first time that our country appointed a Hungarian expert to a top position of the crisis management mission. The 45 year old Brigadier has been employed by the Hungarian Prison Service and has served in the EUJUST LEX mission in 2006 already. The appointment of László Huszár as the Head of Mission is a great Hungarian success from professional and political aspects as well; it is the achievement and acknowledgement of our participation in the international crisis management of the EU.
