Office of the State Secretary

The Office of the State Secretary directs the Ministry’s organisation, and ensures its coordinated operation. It prepares the Ministry’s organisational and operational regulations, makes proposals on the Ministry’s work schedule and continuously monitors implementation of the work schedule.

State Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs

The State Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs carries out specific tasks defined by the Minister, and takes part in developing and representing the Ministry’s standpoint. The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs directs the mechanisms for reaching cross-party agreement, and gives opinions on plans developed in the course of the Ministry’s preparation of legislation.

State Secretariat for Church, Civil Society and Nationality Affairs

The fundamental goals of the Office of the Minister of State for Church, Civil Society and Nationality Affairs are to open a new chapter in relationships with churches, to promote the development of the effective operation of civil organisations and of volunteering, and to efficiently coordinate government responsibilities affecting the members of national and ethnic minorities living in Hungary.

State Secretariat for Social Inclusion

The fundamental goal of the Office of the Minister of State for Social Inclusion is that individuals and groups in disadvantaged positions should have access to their fair share of the expanding opportunities available. The essence of the new conception is its composite nature, which means that qualitative improvements in disadvantaged areas can only be seen if educational, social, healthcare and employment conditions are improved simultaneously.

State Secretariat for Social and Family Affairs

The responsibilities of the State Secretariat for Social and Family cover four large areas: family and welfare services; promotion of the rights of young people; promotion of the rights of pensioners and the elderly; promotion of the rights of people suffering from mental impairment. Other high-priority tasks are the regulation and supervision of the system of social security transfer payments.

State Secretariat for Healthcare

The State Secretariat for Healthcare is responsible for determining the specialist rules related to healthcare provision, and the preparation of legislation related to the direction of healthcare provision on a national level and in institutions of higher education. It regulates national public healthcare tasks.

State Secretariat for Higher Education

The Secretariat promotes the service of national and universal culture and science, the preservation, increase and transmission of our values in the field of higher education.The mission of higher education is to serve as a basis for the economic and intellectual development of the nation. Higher education is public service, an activity which serves the common good and fosters individual and public interest. It helps to reach the aims of the individual, the society and the economy by creating and transmitting knowledge on a higher level. Higher education prepares the individuals to fulfil their profession and public duties in the division of labour within the society on a highly professional level, serving the interest of the present and future generations.

State Secretariat for Culture

The responsibilities of the State Secretariat for Culture are to use available state resources to initiate and promote the creation of new cultural assets, and to preserve national and world cultural heritage assets in Hungary. It defines and organises the guiding principles and programmes for the development of international cultural links, and of activities aimed at further popularising Hungarian culture in the international arena.

State Secretariat for Sport and Youth Affairs

The State Secretariat for Sport and Youth Affairs carries out specialist preparation of development strategies and programmes related to sport, and collaborates in the development and operation of the system of governmental directives and institutions for sport, and in the provision of the regulatory and other conditions necessary for these.
