In connection with the Syrian crisis, Hungary expresses in every forum its firm commitment to ending violence in the shortest time possible.
Hungary supports the activity of Lakhdar Brahimi, Joint Arab League–United Nations Special Representative, which is aimed at stopping the bloodshed and reaching a peaceful settlement in Syria. We are concerned about the prospect that, if it remains unresolved, the deepening conflict will threaten the stability of neighboring countries and that of the whole region. The fights have resulted in a very grave humanitarian situation affecting millions of people, and we consider it essential that it should be dealt with and the suffering of the population be alleviated. At a level proportional to its financial means, Hungary itself has also contributed to the efforts of the international community to achieve this goal.
