The Commander of the HDF 34TH ‘László Bercsényi’ Special Operations Battalion of Szolnok Colonel Tamás Sándor, took over command of the Special Operations Task Force, operating in several provinces of Afghanistan, from the Americans - the Defence Ministry told MTI on Tuesday, December 3.

The Eighth Rotation of the HDF National Support Element (HDF NSE-8) has arrived in Afghanistan recently, and has begun the handover/takeover process lasting around two weeks.
The Mission of the 1st Rotation of the HDF Operational Advisory Team (OAT-1) will soon end in Afghanistan. The first rotation... in a new place, with a new system of tasks, new relations, new challenges. Yet, for the largest part of the team with less newness, as most part of the personnel has already been to this place, the world’s most backward, and most dangerous country, seven times bigger than Hungary, situated at the meeting point of the “Asian West and East”.
The Afghan helicopter pilot students began their practical flight training with the Mi-17 helicopter in early November at the Shindand Air Base. They carried out their first flights together with the instructors of the seventh rotation of the HDF Mi-17 Air Advisory Team (AAT-7). Soon, new aircrew members, flight technicians and riflemen will increase the Afghan Air Force strength. Nevertheless, the young candidates will have to complete several flights and other type of tasks until graduation.
October of 2013 has not passed boringly either for the soldiers of the HDF Operational Advisory Team (HDF OAT). In addition to the daily advisory, liaison and force protection tasks and the convoy operations several other activities occupied the attention of our soldiers.
