Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Evening!

We are together again tonight because there were elections again today. For us, temperance, modesty and humility are the yardstick of politics. And accordingly I ask that everyone remain disciplined. Usually. But this evening, at least on this, the eve of the elections, let us shout out our joy to the world. We have won, we have won resoundingly, and in fact we have achieved the greatest victory. We have achieved the greatest victory because out of the members of the European People's Party we, the Fidesz – Christian Democratic People's Party alliance, achieved the best result, which means that proportionally, we contributed the most to victory. Because the fact is that we, the European People's Party, have also beaten the socialists in Europe. Hungarian justice comes in threes, as the saying goes; we have achieved the second. And we can also be proud of the fact that both the Hungarian Community Party [in Slovakia] and the DAHR [the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania] have won seats in the European Parliament. Together, we will be able to represent the Hungarian nation more strongly than ever before. Our warm wishes from here to the Hungarians of Slovakia and Transylvania!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Of the six Central European countries, we had the highest voter turnout. And for this we owe our thanks to every single Hungarian voter who went out to vote, regardless of who they voted for; through their participation they have stood up for Hungary.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The MEPs that have been elected today are the Hungarians' forward garrison. It will be they who will defend their homeland abroad. Their job will be to earn respect for the Hungarians and to stand up for Hungarian interests. Their job will be to make the voice of the Hungarians heard in Brussels too. Let them state that the Hungarians are unified and that through the power of unity we have today once again rejected the extremists, whether from the left or the right. Let them state that through the power of solidarity the Hungarians are building a country that has a great future ahead of it. Their job will be to warn the EU's institutions that they should not choose a path that is contradictory to our common culture and to the common values of European Christian civilisation. Their job will be to protect the reduction of utility prices, to protect Hungarian farmland, to protect the fair distribution of burdens and in general to protect Hungary and the interests of the Hungarian people. Let them fight for every single Hungarian. And so I salute all those who are going to battle. My congratulations to every elected Member of Parliament regardless of what party they represent. Bravo!

My request to every Member of Parliament elected today is that you serve your homeland with honour. Europe is our home, but Hungary is our homeland. Never forget that Hungary comes first. Never forget that we are all Hungarian. Those that are going to Brussels and those too, who are staying here at home. And I ask that we Hungarians never forget that we can be only be successful together and in unity. If we pay heed to this fact, then we can make Hungary great once again.

Go, Hungary! Go, Hungarians!
