Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision and Agricultural Economy Endre Kardeván received Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Co-Chair of the Hungarian-Ukrainian Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation Mikola Prysyazhnyuk at the Ministry of Rural Development in Budapest today, to hold discussions within the framework of the Committee.

Mr. Kardeván stressed the importance of Hungary' policy of Opening to the East, including the role played in this policy by Hungarian-Ukrainian cooperation. Ukraine is an important partner to Hungary and cooperation is ongoing in several fields, partly because both countries have export-orientated agricultural policies. A common goal is to further strengthen business relations between Hungary and Ukraine, and to enable highly processed, good quality Hungarian food industry products to enter Ukraine. In the in the interests of achieving this, the parties discussed the text of the animal health certifications needed for the export of pork and beef, which were then signed at the plenary session of the Committee.

During the negotiations, both parties emphasised the important role of the anti-rabies fox immunisation programme and its human implications, and agreed that realising the programme as soon as possible was in their common interests.
