Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh delivered an address at the topping out ceremony of Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital in Kaposvár on 22 October, 2013. Enabled by the additional grant of HUF 2.5 billion awarded by the Government, the comprehensive reconstruction of Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital can be implemented by June 2015, it was mentioned at the event.

Within the framework of the comprehensive infrastructure development of Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital, four of the eight wings of the North Block of the hospital as well as the Diagnostics Block were inaugurated last March. At the topping out ceremony of the other two wings to be constructed within the project, Zsuzsa Németh emphasised that the hospital in Kaposvár could be the first hospital in the Pólus Programme the development of which was to be implemented from the very first to the very last phase.

“Our expectations of the over HUF 14.5bn awarded from the New Széchenyi Plan funds are that the development will enable shorter waiting lists, safer and better quality care, improving use of capacity and more economically sound and efficient operation”, the minister explained.

The reason justifying the awarding of additional funds was that, due to the changes that took place in the two years between working out the development concept of the project and signing the Grant Contract in 2009 (e.g. exchange rate movements, inflation), the technical contents of the project had to be reduced by some HUF 2.5 bn.

The additional funding makes it possible to implement the total technical contents of the original development concept. Thus, the two wings providing up-to-date housing for the psychiatric centre and the physiotherapy and rehabilitation rooms, meaning the completion of the Pólus Project, can be constructed as well.
