“The best energy is unused energy”, main patron Zsuzsa Németh pointed out at the press conference announcing the tender. The Partner’s Initiative of MVM Hungarian Electricity Ltd. is in compliance with the National Energy Strategy, one of the objectives of which is to increase energy efficiency, the minister added. Beyond the obvious economic benefits like enhancing competitiveness, the initiative is also environmentally beneficial. Reduced energy use helps preserve natural resources for the future generations, the Minister emphasised.

The aim of the tender is to award enterprises that consistently strive for conscious energy management throughout their operation, thereby contributing to awareness raising. Hungarian micro, small and medium enterprises may submit tender applications presenting already implemented energy efficiency measures via the website www.energiatudatossag.mvmp.hu by 6 March, 2014. The submitted entries are to be assessed by a jury comprising renowned Hungarian economic experts and decision-makers. The Ministry of National Development is to be represented by Minister of State for Energy Affairs Pál Kovács in the jury.

Awarded entries are to be presented at a professional conference to be held as the closing event of the programme in May 2014, where winning applicants are to be rewarded.
