The Johannite Caritative Service is especially active in helping ill and disabled people, and underprivileged children. It collects and forwards donations, organises youth programmes and helps elderly people suffering from dementia.

The Johannite Caritative Service is part of the Caritative Council supported and coordinated by the Ministry. The Council encompasses Hungary’s largest caritative services: the Maltese, Ecumenical, Baptist, Reformed and Catholic charity services, as well as the Red Cross. Support for these organisations has tripled since 2010. While in 2010 they received 220 million forints (EUR 714,000) in state support, this year the budget allocated to them is 700 million forints (EUR 2.27 million).
