In the first half of January 2012, Tamás Fellegi, minister without portfolio responsible for liaising with certain international financial organisations will have informal consultations in Washington with the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) experts in charge of Hungary, managing director of IMF, Christine Lagarde, and other members of the Directorate.

An agreement regarding the form, size and conditions of the financial scheme to be provided by IMF and the European Commission may be reached as a result of the official negotiation process. Based on its previously formulated position, the Hungarian Government is ready to start negotiations without preconditions, and offers the experts of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Commission the opportunity to reconcile content regarding the elements of cooperation and the financial, macroeconomic and political implications of the future agreement.

As it is well-known, the Government has received the European Central Bank’s official position on the draft act regulating the National Bank of Hungary, has reviewed the recommendations made, and has amended the draft act accordingly at several points.
