On May 10, German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived for a whirlwind visit at the ISAF Regional Command–North (RC-N) in Camp Marmal, Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. Besides the military leadership of the region, the German Chancellor met the senior national representatives of the 17 nations serving on the staff of the RC-N, among them RC-N Chief of Staff Brig.-Gen. Ferenc Komor.

On April 1, the second rotation of the HDF Kabul International Airport Force Protection Contingent (HDF KAIA FPC) assumed guard and security duties at the “gateway to Afghanistan”. The farewell ceremony for the first rotation also included a medal parade and a change of command ceremony as well.

Farewell ceremony of the Hungarian PRT team in Mazar-e Sharif

The national flag has been lowered in the camp of the Hungarian Defence Forces Provincial Reconstruction Team and an official farewell ceremony has been held in Mazar-e Sharif. The soldiers of the last PRT rotation are going to return home from Afghanistan this week.
